8 ways to save money in your household
My wife keep bugging me to make savings… financial or not. So, I become an expert in saving money, not only in making it.
Let me share the wisdom. Don’t laugh too high:
1. plug out the appliances when you are not using it.
The air conditioner over the winter, for example. Or TV, computer, etc when u are going in vacation. Take out the phone chargers when u are not using them (u only use them for one hour during one week – the rest is just consuming watts).
2. thermic isolation.
A perfect isolated house needs energy of a light bulb to heat it during the winter!!! So, if you invest a little amount, u will save a LOT of money.
3. close down the water while you are brushing your teeth.
Yes, you will save 2 minutes of rolling water… or more… or less if you live in Kansas:)
4. when you boil an egg, use the smallest pot with water just to cover the egg.
This way you will not use too much energy to increase temperature to water that is not needed. And you will save money and planet, by not consuming too much gas
5. be humble with your house size
Don’t live in a palace if you are 1-2 people. If you have rooms where you are not going every day (or year), that means you are oversized.. Consider moving down, to smaller size houses. Michael Jackson for sure is not an ecologist…
6. don’t keep too many cars
you need to pay taxes, insurances, gas, police fines, auto parts, depreciation, … for each one of them
7. don’t use screen saver on your computer
it consume much more energy then putting your monitor on standby
8. use eco-bulbs
Frankly, i hate the neon light they spread, but i understand that now Philips has some now ecological bulbs with warmer light. Saving money isn’t everything, after all
These are only a few ways to save money. I bet you guys know some more…
